A permanent labor certification issued by the Department of Labor (DOL) allows an employer to hire a foreign national to work permanently in the United States. The application for a labor certification is filed via the DOL’s Permanent Case Management System (PERM), which requires employers to set up individual accounts.
Effective August 25, 2014, all PERM users will begin to comply with new password requirements for enhanced security. Within the next 90 calendar days, all PERM users will be required to change their existing passwords. All passwords need to meet the new criteria to be valid. This includes password length (8 to 15 characters), using special characters, including upper and lower case letter(s), having least one number, and not reusing a recently used password.
If a user’s previous password expires, the user will be required to re-activate the account.
