After a seven-week suspension of in-person services at its field offices, asylum offices and application support centers (ASCs) due to COVID-19, USCIS has announced that it plans to begin reopening its offices on or after June 4, 2020 – unless public closures are further extended

USCIS personnel continue to perform mission-essential services that do not require face-to-face contact with the public and provide limited emergency in-person services while the offices are closed. Individuals may still submit applications and petitions to USCIS during this time. USCIS service centers continue to process cases received.

In anticipation of the reopening, USCIS will send notices to applicants and petitioners with scheduled appointments and naturalization ceremonies who have been impacted by the temporary closure. USCIS asylum offices will send interview cancellation notices and automatically reschedule asylum interviews. Once USCIS resumes operations for in-person services, it will automatically reschedule ASC appointments for those whose appointments were affected by the temporary office closure. Those individuals who had scheduled InfoPass or other appointments will be required to reschedule their appointments through the USCIS Contact Center once field offices re-open.

As the tentative re-opening date nears, we will continue to monitor USCIS updates and developments.
